Innovation Lab

Where we prototype what is next.

The Lab is our R&D surface. Some experiments become ventures, some become client case studies — all of them sharpen how we build.

Focus areas

Four surfaces we keep pushing on.

The Lab is opinionated. These are the hard problems we choose to get good at — the ones that show up again and again across our ventures and client work.

01

Agentic systems

Governed multi-agent platforms, orchestrated with autonomy tiers and human approval gates.

02

Watch-first experiences

Native Apple Watch products, designed to work phone-optional.

03

Geospatial & data platforms

Real-data maps, dashboards and the PostGIS backends behind them.

04

Governed AI

Auditable and guardrailed, with data residency by default.

Currently in the Lab

What's on the bench right now.

Working prototypes we're actively shaping — some become ventures, some get repurposed.

YYC Guide

Travel · Calgary visitor guide

In the studio

An independent visitor's guide to Calgary that plans around your trip — tell it when you land and when you fly out, and it builds the hours in between around what's actually on. Getting-around help for Calgary Transit and the free downtown CTrain, neighbourhood guides, dining and attractions, live parking rates from the Calgary Parking Authority open dataset, and the practical basics visitors ask about (currency, tipping, taxes, emergency numbers). It works offline with downloadable maps and never processes payments — it hands you off to the City's own apps. An independent concept, not affiliated with the City of Calgary or Calgary Transit.

Calgora

Civic · Calgary city services

In the studio

An independent civic companion for getting around Calgary — transit departures and delay alerts, driving and detour warnings, waste-collection reminders and neighbourhood safety briefings from open data, with an Apple Watch companion. Rather than replace City services, it drafts your 311 requests and safety reports, hands them to the official 311 and Calgary Police channels, then tracks them for you. Core features stay free; an optional My Calgary account syncs your addresses, routes and drafts across devices. An independent concept, not affiliated with the City of Calgary.

Looya

Weather · iPhone & iPad

In review · live soon

A calm, design-led weather app. Location-based forecasts powered by Apple WeatherKit, an AR Sky View, daily Sky Posters you can set as wallpaper, a Time Machine to replay the day, and on-device severe-weather alerts — with no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Submitted to the App Store and going live soon.

Thenticate

Security · Password manager

In the lab

A secure, offline-first password manager for iOS. Zero-knowledge architecture with AES-256 encryption and biometric unlock — logins, keys, secure notes and a built-in one-time-code generator, all kept encrypted on the device. Feature-complete and prepared for release.

Covitrace

Health · Verifiable credentials

In the lab · repurposing

Built during COVID as a privacy-first vaccination pass — encrypted health records, a verifiable QR credential and venue check-in, with a companion verifier app. With the pandemic behind us, we're repurposing the same stack into a privacy-first personal health-record and verifiable-credential wallet.

From lab to launch

An experiment rarely stays an experiment.

The best prototypes leave the Lab. Here is where three of them went — a venture we own, a client platform we built, and products already in people's hands.

Studio

Becomes a venture

Arisium

Education · Agentic AI

A governed agentic education platform, incubated in the Lab and now a standalone venture of its own.

Studio

Becomes a case study

Recreation Discovery Platform

Sport Calgary · Public sector · Geospatial

A Lab prototype that won the pitch and moved into a Phase 1 build for a real civic partner.

Live

Becomes a product

Kova Run · Calmatte

Live on the App Store

A watch-first running tracker and an AI wellness journal — Lab experiments that turned into shipped, downloadable apps.

Work with the Lab

Got something that shouldn’t be easy?

The Lab is where we take on the ambiguous, the unproven and the genuinely hard. If that sounds like your problem, bring it to us.
